Jacqui & Sam just might be the most adventurous people I know- and their wedding day was such a reflection of their adventurous, kindred spirits. Sam proposed at the top of an inactive volcano in California, and at their engagement session we hiked throughout Acadia National Park in Maine. So this past July, we all gathered in Roxbury, NY for their wedding weekend in the mountains to celebrate. Scattered thunderstorms were hopping around the forecast and we had to take a deep breath and hope for the best! Sure enough, Saturday afternoon came around and all of their guests took the chairlift up to the summit at Plattekill Mountain to witness the official start of Jacqui & Sam’s marriage. The sun began to shine, a blue sky peeked out from behind the stormy clouds, and they became husband & wife surrounded by their loved ones and incredible mountain views (which was only natural for these two and their shared love of the outdoors). On our way back down the mountain, big black clouds started to cover the sky and a downpour brought the entire wedding into the lodge to party into the night. It was almost as if Mother Nature waited just long enough to let them pull off their dream wedding.

Jacqui & Sam are clients-turned-friends to me, and I was thrilled to be there to celebrate alongside them while documenting their day. You might recognize a few familiar faces since I photographed the wedding of Sam’s sister and brother-in-law, Molly & Matt, last fall! I know the future holds a beautiful life for Jacqui & Sam as they are incredibly sincere and kind as individuals, yet together they are even better. When I asked Jacqui about their dating years, she said, “Sam took me on hiking adventures up mountains, down canyons, through waterfalls, and over glaciers. He showed me things that I had never known before.” This day was the perfect celebration of the start of their next and greatest adventure together.
