Where to begin about Kelsey & Max’s magical Spring House Hotel wedding day! Block Island is so important to them and their families, and their love story began on the island years ago, so this day was destined to be special.
During getting ready, the guys hung out on Max’s family’s boat, and the girls were over at Kelsey’s family home. It is always a treat to photograph couples in meaningful locations on a wedding day as it adds an extra sentimental layer to their images. Everything about Kelsey’s look was so uniquely her style and stunning to photograph. My photographer heart was singing at the sight of the pearl veil from Andria Bird and the breathtaking late summer bouquets from Michelle Jeanne Floral. Kelsey was an absolutely elegant Block Island bride between that veil, her sophisticated & simple bridal gown, and pearl earrings from Mary MacGill, a local designer. So many happy tears were shed before we even arrived at the venue. I LOVE the moments we captured with her mom, sister, and bridesmaids (and her cavachon, Sadie!) before heading out the door!
There was a slightly daunting forecast slated for Kelsey & Max’s wedding day at the Spring House Hotel, and while the morning started out grey and rainy, it transformed as the day went on thanks to a little wedding day luck! We were so thrilled to capture portraits out on the lawn of the Spring House with the views of Block Island, and to end the night with an epic cotton candy sunset. Her bridesmaids called her the “sunset queen,” and thankfully we got an incredible one for her, straight out of a watercolor painting, as a grand finale to their perfect day. They may not have been able to have a big dance floor, but their awesome violinist Big Lux got people dancing in their seats, and by the end of the night Kelsey took to the lawn for a little dancing in the moonlight. This day was a joy to photograph; the colors, the people, the energy…everything was awesome.
A big thank you to the bride and groom for having me there to capture your incredible Spring House Hotel wedding day. You were surrounded by so much love and I was honored to be there with you. Cheers to the new Mr. & Mrs. Leonard!
WITH LOVE,
LAURA
