A little change of scenery- a maternity session in Washington State! I flew out to the west coast to visit my best friend before her baby girl arrives this summer for some quality time together. Back when I was first starting my own business, Lauren & Jake were my very first official clients (!!!) so it was so special for me to be able to give them an updated photoshoot of their little family before their sweet girl arrives. Lauren has always been my through thick-and-thin best friend, and to see her pregnant and feel her baby doing somersaults in that perfect belly was surreal.

Kaylin was a bridesmaid in one of my previous weddings so I was thrilled to reconnect with her and her husband for their maternity session. It was such a beautiful fall day in Boston so we wandered our way through Beacon Hill for that quintessential Boston vibe and walked over to the Boston Public Garden. The famous ducklings even made their way into the session.

There were always golden retrievers in my home growing up, so I understand how much of a part of the family your dog can be. They are the furry, four-legged family member who shows unconditional love. Maybe they were your first “baby” before kids arrived. Or maybe you got the dog to help your child make friends. Or, you might just be dog people and can’t have a home without one running for the door when you walk in! Whatever the reason…they are a part of your story too. 

My goal is always to capture the simple but powerful moments that you don’t want to forget. I look for big yawns, the way baby cuddles up against their parents, funny moments with older siblings, and those sweet, curious eyes looking out at the world. This year was full of beautiful moms-to-be, excited big brothers and sisters, and the cutest, most snuggly little newborns.

Maternity & Newborn packages are THE best- it is so much fun to join in on the excitement and anticipation of all the joy to come.  I was thrilled to have my first shoot sine moving to Rhode Island be with Courtney and Mark, documenting this special time before their baby girl arrives…

It’s such a unique time to capture, especially with a little one who is also waiting for the baby to arrive.
